The Band from County Hell

The Band from County Hell are firm festival favorites, having been on the circuit for the past 20 years! The critically acclaimed Sleaford 7-piece upbeat folk-punk band have performed over 2000 shows playing with all the greats including The Levellers, The Stranglers, UB40 and have supported Stiff Little Fingers, Hayseed Dixie, The Beat and most recently, New Model Army.

2022 saw two BFCH original songs, “Meet The Folks” and “Pussycat” being used as part of the soundtrack in a brand-new feature film “Morris Men”. The movie is directed by Gregg Masuak.

Kathryn Roberts Sean Lakeman

Duos like Roberts & Lakeman come and duos like them go, and some nurture and fine tune their art and watch it grow into something totally original and captivating.

For over a quarter of a century this dynastic family Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman’s partnership has proved personal, permanent and pivotal.

Langkamer

The Bristol 4 Langkamer land somewhere between Lynyrd Skynyrd and Pavement. Taking the vast existential worries of modern life and dress them up in rambling pop sensibilities, swerving between vibrant sing-alongs and off-kilter guitar melodies.

Fly Yeti Fly

Narrowboaters Fly Yeti Fly have their own unique flavour of delicate-but-distinctive folk. Blending rich vocal harmonies with intricate guitar arrangements, mandolin and harmonica, and with a warmth of spirit that radiates from the stage, the Wiltshire-based duo weave songs and stories about connection, community and the seasons, with a sound that is reminiscent of the late-’60s folk scene.

Now living on their canal boat on the Kennet & Avon, their music is heavily influenced by the ebb and flow of life on the water.

Billy in the Lowground

Comparisons have often been made with the Waterboys and the Levellers, but there’s a distinctive tone to Billy in the Lowground that’s all their own, and they’ve resisted being slotted neatly into a pigeonhole from day one. Suffice to say, they’re a 6-piece West Country Rock band with a distinct Irish influence.

Sound tracking the sort of hell raising festival folk tunes, to back room bawling and bar room brawling, or escaping to brighter futures, the familiarity of the world you know or just a damned good night out. If Nashville were in Somerset, Billy In The Lowground would be one of its leading lights.

Concrete Prairie

Concrete Prairie, with their electric live performances sitting somewhere between Folk, Alt-Country & Indie-Americana, are a five-piece ensemble from the West Country delivering a veritable soundtrack for the glamour and grit of modern living.

While their compositions tackle big themes, the songs are shot through with hope, evidenced by a spirited and rousing sound orchestrated with twanging guitars, straining fiddle and yearning prose.?

Devil’s Doorbell

Continuing with the Narrowboat theme, Devil’s Doorbell are musical troubadours. Living and travelling along the Kennet and Avon canal, they’re full of infectious energy that brings out the cheeky side of 1920’s jazz in a skiffle cabaret style. With homemade instruments alongside tenor banjo, growling vocals and an impressive amount of dressing up, these cats sure love to entertain!

Nipper has played Gypsy Jazz and Swing music for over 20 years, performing in many bands. His strong jazz rhythm playing, and distinctive vocals lend vintage authenticity to the band. Jellylegs began her musical journey playing drums and shouting in a punk band. She has the raucous energy and D.I.Y spirit of early punk this completes the Devil’s Doorbell sound. Having cut their teeth busking on the streets and the canal towpath they are now bringing their unique style to a wider audience.

Jolly Roger

When you go to see a pirate?band, you have certain expectations and Jolly Roger meet all of them! A formidable force akin to a Sloop of War ship aiming their cannons, on stage they dominate with quick wit, fast paced melodies and poetic lyricism! Their high-energy live performances have caused widespread outbreaks of dancing, moshing and having a ruddy good time at an international level, gaining them the coveted ‘Golden Gnome award in September 2022.

The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican

FINALLY completing this line up drop will be The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican! Far from being your typical folk ensemble, this cult-like collective of like-minded knit-wear enthusiasts are determined to follow in their spiritual father’s immortal footsteps and keep his legacy alive.

A group that is both perpetually on the move, ever-evolving and joyously independent, they have played close to 1300 side-splitting shows to date and have brought smiles and belly-laughs to audiences across the UK.

This is, we are sure that you will agree, an incredible line up for such an intimate festival! You’ll be joining the best music the circuit has to offer, with like-minded individuals with which you will share exceptional taste in music!
