Family Friendly

Trowbridge Village Pump Festival has 36 years history of being one of the safest, most family friendly festivals. This year we are doing even more for kids of all ages by dedicating the whole of Arena 2 (the island by the manor house) to family entertainment.

During the day there will be a full family entertainment programme including puppet shows, creative workshops, circus skills, to name but a few. New in 2009 was an outdoor stage in the family arena as well, for demonstrations, shows and our new talent competition for unsigned acts. Around the whole site we have our roving street entertainers - see the fairies on stilts, the jugglers, clowns and comedy acts around all three arenas. And new this year are exciting fire acts after dusk and family dances at night - Cajun, ceilidhs, Latin, you name it you can dance to it at Trowbridge.

We encourage parents to take advantage of our free children’s wristbands on which you write a contact mobile phone number (no names please) so we can let you know if we find your offspring have gone walkabout. All found children will be well taken care of at our main security office until reclaimed by their mums and dads.

To protect your older rebellious teenagers we are clamping down on anyone under 18 in possession of alcohol. Our bars certainly won’t be selling it but if they are smuggling cans and stuff we are going to confiscate this year as we had a few green around the gills adolescents last year - not good for them or others.

The atmosphere at Trowbridge is so relaxed and family friendly, we have masses of kids and teenagers come back each year; many have been at Trowbridge since they were babies, and when they grow up they continue in the family tradition by bringing the next generation. If you want a quieter place for your family to camp, just ask when you arrive and you’ll be directed to quieter camping areas.

Please put plenty of sunblock and hats on your packing lists as we’re hoping for a great one this year (but throw the kids’ wellies in the car just in case). And remember to bring fleeces as we’re by a river so we get a tad chilly when the sun goes down.
