Hands to the Pump
'Rumpy Pumpy', a cask beer brewed especially for the festival by our sponsors Wadworth, will again be helping to raise much needed funds for the charity Dorothy House Hospice. For the last few years every pint of Rumpy Pumpy served up by Don Pilliner and his bar staff has donated 10p to the charity.

Dorothy House and the Village Pump
The Trowbridge Village Pump Festival has a long association with Dorothy House Hospice Care. The Pump has supported the hospice in various ways over the years – with one-off fundraising concerts, sales of Wadworth's festival special Rumpy Pumpy beer and CD sales all raising money to help Dorothy House continue to provide care for patients from Wiltshire, Bath and north Somerset.
In recent years, the association has been particularly poignant, with both Dave Newman and Alan Briars cared for by Dorothy House.
Every day, Dorothy House helps 840 families affected by cancer and other life threatening conditions. Most patients are looked after in their own homes, but short-term care, out-patient and day patient services are provided at the hospice in Winsley, near Bath. To make sure patients have the best quality of life possible, all services are provided free of charge.
Dorothy House Hospice Care receives only 40 per cent of its funding from the NHS, and this year, after NHS funding, £2.5 million is needed to provide services at the current level – that's more than £7,000 a day.
So you can see how the hospice depends on the generosity of local people to make donations, hold events, take part in sponsored challenges, support the charity shops or leave a legacy – and the support of the Village Pump is a highly valued part of that support.
